How to Get Your Products Seen This Festive Season

The festive season is just around the corner - and for our incredible maker community, that means it’s time to shine! 🌟

Whether you’re setting up at local markets, selling online, or both, getting your products seen (and loved) takes a little planning and a lot of heart. In this blog, we’re sharing our top 10 tips to getting your products seen this festive season. My personal favourite is #9 and I think it’s a real secret to making this festive season an amazing one.

1. Tell Your Story

People don’t just buy what you make - they buy why you make it.

Share your process, your inspiration, and your values. Post behind-the-scenes photos of you creating, show your workspace (mess and all!), and talk about what makes your products unique.

Authenticity connects - and connection drives sales.

2. Make the Most of Social Media

Now’s the time to show up consistently. I know showing up can be SO hard, especially when you’re doing so much behind the scenes, but consistency is absolutely key to building trust and brand awareness. Here are some ideas for showing up over this festive period.

Start by sharing product photos in good light (natural is best!). People want to see your products for what they are, and how they will actually look, so show them!

Use Reels or videos on TikTok to show your items in action. For example, show you (or maybe even a customer) unwrapping the product. This allows them to envision it’s them opening the gift, or maybe even their loved one! Show the packaging, people want to know what it’s going to look like when it arrives and if they need to buy extra wrapping paper too. Or even a “from maker to market” story - this might look like showing you packing up your products ready to head to a market over the coming weeks and building some excitement for what you’re bringing along with you.

Add festive hashtags like #ShopSmall #HandmadeChristmas #SupportLocal to reach new audiences. A handy tip is to write like someone might search, so be specific!

Engage, don’t just post! Reply to comments, thank people for sharing, and show love to other makers too. Sharing others work can help you reach new people too. Community is key in the run up to this festive period so make friends with the makers in your network and connect before markets so you can show up excited ready to chat and make sales together.

3. Get Involved in Local Markets and Events

Visibility starts in your community. The more people you can physically speak to, have eye contact with and really create a connection with, the better your festive season will be. Apply early for festive markets, collaborate with other stallholders, and let organisers know about your products - they often promote makers in their social media and newsletters.

Bonus tip: bring flyers or QR codes linking to your online shop and newsletter. A customer who doesn’t buy on the day might shop later from home! They might even share with a friend and you want to make sure they can buy from you afterwards!

4. Create a Festive Collection

Limited-edition items or Christmas-themed packaging can grab attention. Whether it’s a new scent, colour way, or a simple “holiday gift set,” a touch of seasonal exclusivity helps your products feel special - and gift-worthy. But remember, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel here or bring out entirely new products for the festive season. Be creative, and think of other ways you can promote a festive collection. Small touches like Christmas packaging, stickers or even just a shift in messaging and marketing can go a long way.

5. Partner with Other Makers

Collaboration is visibility gold. Bundle products together, run a joint giveaway, or tag each other in posts. Cross-promotion introduces your work to new audiences and shows your customers that you’re part of a vibrant creative community. Not only that, but it massively increased the energy and excitement around the community and shows you’re leaning into your values and connections to bring your audience something new and interesting!

6. Refresh Your Online Shop

Before the rush hits, make sure your website or Etsy store is in top shape. Update photos (bonus points for festive imaging), check that listings are easy to navigate and optimised for gifting season, and make shipping deadlines crystal clear. There’s nothing worse than not knowing when your purchase might arrive over the festive season.

If you’re going for impact, you could also add a festive banner or a “Gift Guide” section to help shoppers find what they need quickly.

7. Use Email Marketing

Don’t underestimate your mailing list! Send a short, friendly email sharing what’s new, where you’ll be selling, and any special offers. People who’ve bought from you before are the most likely to buy again - remind them why they loved your work in the first place. And if you don’t yet have a mailing list, now is the perfect time to start one!

8. Offer Gift-Wrapping or Personalisation

Small touches make a big difference. A hand-tied ribbon, festive tag, or personalised note turns a purchase into a thoughtful gift. It also gives you another reason to promote your products as the perfect ready-to-give option.

9. Share Customer Love

This one is absolute gold dust. Social proof builds trust and shows that people love what you have to share. User Generated Content (basically just the organic photos customers post of your product) are the biggest trust builder, especially during gifting season. The first step to this is making the unboxing or unwrapping experience top tier and fun so they have a reason to share in the first place.

Repost customer photos, share testimonials, and thank people publicly. New buyers love seeing real people enjoying your products - it makes them feel confident in choosing you.

10. Keep Showing Up

The festive season can feel fast and frantic, but consistency wins every time. Even small daily actions - posting a story, engaging in comments, or refreshing your display - keep you visible and top-of-mind for shoppers.

Final Thoughts

This season, visibility isn’t about shouting the loudest - it’s about showing up authentically, sharing your story, and connecting with your audience.

Every post, every chat at a market, every handmade tag adds up to something powerful: a community that values your craft.

Here’s to your products being seen, loved, and gifted far and wide this festive season!
