Creative Workshops

We are delighted to have Ruth from Papercut Punk joining us to host an Introduction To Papercut Art Workshop. Join me, for another wonderfully relaxed two hour workshop discovering the simple joy of papercutting. Working from my ready made templates or using your own ideas, I will guide you through the basics and cheerlead you along to make some lovely pieces of original art. Mindful and fun, my beginner friendly workshops are a great way to discover a new obsession - be warned, it’s addictive!

Birds, animals, people, flowers, abstract art - you will be amazed how simple and cheap Papercutting is and how much joy can be made from a single sheet of paper and a sharp knife.

2.00pm - 4.00pm - Upper Hall, Portobello Town Hall.

We are delighted to have Jessica from Blooming Creative joining us to host a Design Your Own Notebook. Ready to upgrade your stationery stash? Join us for this hands-on workshop where you will design and construct a bespoke wire-bound notebook from scratch.

Use our provided markers and paper to sketch your design. We’ll photograph your creation and prepare it for printing. Not feeling like a freehand artist? No problem! Choose from a selection of pre-made designs including some festive options, or simply personalise your notebook cover with your name for a stylish and unique touch. We do also have 2 iPads available if you would prefer to draw digitally, you are also welcome to bring your own.

Once your design is ready, we will photograph it and print it onto premium adhesive paper. Then, the making begins! You will learn how to mount your print onto sturdy board to create a professional hard cover. Finally, you’ll stack it with a block of lined paper and use our binding machine to secure the wire spine, snapping it all together into a finished book.

What to expect:

  • Design: Full access to our art supplies to create your cover art.

  • Build: Learn the satisfying technique of wrapping and mounting a hardback cover.

  • Bind: Add the wire to your pre-punched lined paper and finish your book.

You’ll walk away with a completely unique, durable notebook that looks shop-bought but was 100% made by you.

10.00am - 12.00pm - Upper Hall, Portpbello Town Hall.
